Dear Fellow Saints of the Coming Kingdom,
Tonight I will begin the Basic Training for the believers in Wetaskiwin, a community outside of Edmonton. The Training will take place tonight, Friday evening, and Saturday morning.
Saturday evening and Sunday at 1 PM there will be Evangelistic Healing Services. In particular, the Sunday meeting will be held at
Please pray for this Event, dear brethren. May the spirit and power of Elijah come upon these disciples through the teaching of the word of God. May the Lord use them to prepare the way for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Lucille is staying back at home in Houston to care for Mom.
======================
Lately I have been thinking about the purpose of the spirit of Elijah. If you will recall, Elijah was sent to turn the Israelites—God’s people—away from idolatry and back to the Lord. He was not sent to the Gentiles.
Then centuries later came John the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah:
Luke 1: ?16? Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. ?17? And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Just as Elijah was sent to the Israelites, John was also sent to the people of Israel—not to the Gentiles. He was to prepare them for the coming of the Lord. His message to God’s people was repentance for the forgiveness of sins, a repentance which was to yield visible fruit—obedience to God and righteous works (Luke 3:7-14).
Luke 3: ?7? John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? ?8? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. ?9? The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
This is what is patently missing in large segments of the Church today. There is much preaching about grace and faith and God’s blessings, but little about the fruit of obedience and holiness which should accompany genuine repentance. The spirit of Elijah preaches this kind of true repentance for the forgiveness of sin. Without such repentance, there is no forgiveness of sin.
Seen in this light, could it be that the sins of many “Christians” has not yet been forgiven and that they are not saved?
I would like to develop this further in the ministry of The Elijah Challenge. May the Lord teach me.
Thank you for partnering with us, dear ones!
Sincerely in Christ,
William & Lucille
