Update from Penang Christian Center in Malaysia
Houston, Texas
May 7, 2008
Dear Brethren in Christ,
A week ago, I asked you to pray for the Evangelistic Healing Rallies at Penang Christian Center in Malaysia where we had taught The Elijah Challenge last month. As you may recall, they are intent on making healing the sick and proclaiming the Kingdom of God an integral part of the life of their church. Below are portions of the report I received from Pastor Isaac Chan on the result of the two Rallies.
“It was a bold step of faith to follow up with the Video Training just 2 weeks afterwards and a Healing Rally on our own. This was definitely outside my and our comfort zone.
On Saturday, we had quite a full house. I don’t know how many non Christians we had, but I suspect not many. After I preached from Mark 5 on Jesus’ authority over demons, disease and death I gave the healing invitation. About 70 alumni came forward and 45 came forward for healing, I led in a mass healing prayer, and we slowly had a few testimonies. While the alumni were commanding healing during the 2nd round, I gave an invitation to receive Christ, and 1 young man came forward. At the end of the service I was told a mother and her daughter also received Christ. There were a few more testimonies after that as we went for a few more rounds where the alumni ministered healing individually.
…[On Sunday] The number of healings proportionally was not really less than the weekend when you were present, in spite of the fact that almost everyone present were believers. So we thank God that He used us again to heal some sick people and 3 received Christ. We believe more testimonies will come in later. Yet we had more results than we ever had before in any in-house evangelistic event. And of course we never had any in-house healing rally without an invited healing evangelist.”
Note: The present age of the one-man-show superstar evangelist is coming to a close. The age of the body of Christ—the nameless, faceless believer—is at hand.
Thank you for praying, dear intercessors. Encouraged by these results, Pastor Isaac also wrote, “We are grateful to the Lord. He honored our faith with some instant healings and 3 souls, but I don’t think we should be content. We should press on and seek His direction to take this out to where the unbelievers are—in their own territory.”
AMEN!
=================================
This weekend beginning on Friday evening at 7 PM The Elijah Challenge will be embarking on a journey into “new” territory. The Lord has graciously opened the door for us hold The Basic TEC Training at Union Baptist Association in Houston. Most of those in attendance will be servants of God from evangelical Baptist churches. We are honored to be given this opportunity. Please pray that this weekend the Lord will make us very effective in the Training and thus open the door wider and wider for His many non-charismatic, evangelical disciples to be equipped to heal the sick and proclaim the Kingdom of God with power for the fulfillment of the Great Commission!
The schedule and other details:
7:00 PM to 9:30 PM on Friday, May 9
9:00 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, May 10
3 PM on Sunday, May 11: Open-air Evangelistic Healing Outreach for 200 homeless people at the “Church Under the Bridge” in downtown Houston where the trained disciples of Jesus will heal the sick as a sign to them that Jesus is the only way to the Father
Thank you for your fervent and effectual intercessory prayers, dear ones.
Sincerely in Christ,
William & Lucille
