Dear Brethren in Christ,
By the grace and mercy of our Lord, we and our home are doing very well after Hurricane Ike swept through our city last night. Other parts of the city did suffer from damage from wind and water.
Today when I went outside to survey what happened last night, I found a lot of leaves and small branches scattered on our lawn. There was also a telephone wire attached to the side of our house that had come a little bit loose. That was the extent of the Lord’s mercy on us.
Other than that we have no electricity. This is of some concern to us primarily because without electricity we have no air conditioning to keep the house cool. My mother is elderly and we want to keep her comfortable in this hot Houston weather. Without electricity I have very limited access to the internet. At this moment I am using my battery-powered laptop and backup battery power to access the internet. But there is now no power to recharge the batteries.
Our local authorities tell us it might take two weeks for electricity to be restored to the city.
Brethren, please pray that electricity will be restored to our neighborhood quickly!
Thank you for praying for us, dear ones. Praise the Lord for His wonderful grace.
Love in Christ,
William & Lucille
