Penang Christian Centre Elijah Update

Dear Intercessors,

Abundant grace and peace to you in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ!

You may remember earlier this month when we were at Penang Christian Centre in Malaysia that we asked you to pray that the Lord would increase the level of our effectiveness in equipping churches with The Elijah Challenge (TEC). We prayed that the Lord would lead Senior Pastor Isaac Chan to incorporate TEC into the life of this large cell church. Unfortunately, some churches we have taught have been discouraged from doing this. If Penang Christian Center can do it successfully, it can become a possible model for other churches.

It seems the Lord is in the process of answering that prayer! Tomorrow on Thursday (May 1) for those who missed the earlier Training, PCC will be holding all-day Training via video that was taken earlier when we were with them. A good number of people have already registered for the Training, with about half of them alumni from our original Training. Pastor Isaac himself will lead the live demonstrations of healing at the sessions. The demonstrations, of course, must result in actual “live healings” if they are to be successful as teaching tools. This is a bold step for Pastor Isaac to take. Then this Saturday evening and Sunday morning (May 3 & 4), they will take an even bolder step—they will hold Evangelistic Healing Rallies at the church. Pastor Isaac will proclaim the Kingdom of God, and the trained believers will heal the sick as a sign that the Kingdom is near and that Jesus Christ is the Messiah (Luke 10:9).

The following are portions of what Pastor Isaac just wrote us:

“This weekend will be crucial to PCC integrating TEC into our lifestyles. It will be a major test for us. “Moses” (Rev. William Lau) has led the TEC trainees across the Red Sea and we have seen what God can do through us. But now “Moses” is not with us. Can “Joshua” (Pastor Isaac) lead PCC across the Jordan?”

Dear intercessors, we request your fervent prayer. The success of the Training tomorrow and the Rallies this weekend in Penang will mean that The Elijah Challenge can actually be incorporated into the life of a major influential church. To us this can be a fulfillment of Jesus’ promise in John 14:12—those who believe in Him will do the works that He did, including preaching the gospel and healing the sick. This is a key to the Church fulfilling the Great Commission!

The enemy, of course, will want to discourage them from attempting such things ever again, and will seek their failure.

Please pray and fast for Pastor Isaac and Penang Christian Centre, brethren. This is just as crucial to The Elijah Challenge as an equipping ministry as it is to Penang Christian Center as a local body of Christ.

Thank you for your fervent and effectual prayers, dear partners!

Sincerely in Christ,

William & Lucille

  1. Rev Albert Kang Says:

The Elijah Challenge End-Time Model of Evangelism

Today the Lord is restoring to the Church a Scriptural Model of Evangelism which will enable churches and believers to fulfill the Great Commission.

In this model, based on John 14:12, “ordinary” disciples of Christ will preach the gospel and minister miraculous healing in low-budget, low-profile, relatively small (or even one-on-one) meetings. When the listeners see the miracles and hear the gospel, their hearts will be open to accepting Christ.

The new believers will be followed up by the believing friend, family member, neighbor, or business associate who brought them to the meeting. Such personal follow-up of new believers will be more effective than the impersonal follow up after large mass crusades. There is a greater likelihood that the new believer will join the church and be discipled for Jesus Christ.

This kind of evangelism involving miraculous healings and the demonstration of the Spirit’s power is through ordinary disciples and therefore not dependent on the presence of a specially gifted and anointed minister. As such, evangelism of this kind can be an ongoing and continuous feature of the life of every local church.

This model of evangelism is not based on the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit but rather on principles gleaned from the ministry of Jesus Himself. Thus both Conservative Evangelicals as well as Charismatic Pentecostal believers are able to preach the gospel in this way and even work together in the spirit of unity.

When every church is equipped with the End-Time Model of Evangelism, the Body of Christ will be significantly closer to the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

It is good to learn that Pastor Isaac Chan of Penang Christian Center is activating his church in reaching the lost with the methods taught by Pastor William Lau of The Elijah Challenge. We believe that many souls will be saved and Penang Christian Center will grow in leaps and bounce.
