Dear Partners in the Great Commission,
Peace and grace abound to you in Christ Jesus.
We are slowly overcoming our jetlag and this evening we will begin the Basic Training here. Our host is the Cheras Pastors Fellowship, a group of pastors representing 21 churches in Cheras. As of yesterday a total of about 500 people had registered for the English-speaking Training as well as the Chinese-speaking Training. We are very thankful to the Lord for this opportunity!
Cheras is a community inhabited by a relatively high percentage of ethnic Chinese, whose religion is primarily “folk” Buddhism mixed with ancestor-worship. The majority religion of Malaysia overall is of course “the religion of peace.” Christians here euphemistically refer to adherents of that religion as their “cousins.”
Our desire now is to go beyond simply teaching people how to heal the sick as Jesus taught and commanded his disciples. From what we have seen, the Lord has already made us effective in doing that. Now we want to be effective in training the Church to apply the teaching on the actual battlefield for the winning of souls and the Great Commission. This involves overcoming fear and doubt and taking the gospel outside of the walls of the church to the community where the lost are. This involves discerning strategies that actually work on the field, as has been done in India by Pastor Joshua Gowda and Pastor Simon Haqq with their Evangelistic Feeding Events in unreached villages.
Essentially, we want to move from theory to effective application for the fulfillment of Christ’s Great Commission.
Please pray that the Lord will grant us the wisdom, grace, and anointing to take the Training to this new level of effectiveness here in Cheras and beyond. Thank you for your fervent and effectual prayers, dear partners. Please also remember our loved ones at home in Houston.
Here is a schedule for the Training:
Date: Time: Program:
Thursday (tonight) 8.00pm - 10.30pm Session 1
Friday 8.00pm - 10.30pm Session 2
Saturday 9.00am - 1.00pm Session 3
After that there will be two Evangelistic Healing Rallies on Saturday night and Sunday night.
Last night we had the pleasure of sitting down to dinner with Pastor Albert Kang and his wife Grace. He is the Coordinator for Elijah Challenge Asia. Last weekend he had a very successful Training event and Rally attended mostly by indigenous people of Malaysia known as “orang asli.” To view his exciting report, please click here.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
Sincerely in Christ,
William & Lucille
