Dear Partners in the Great Commission,

The Lord’s grace has been evident here. A total of 540 people from different area churches registered for the Basic Training which began last night. It was perhaps unprecedented in the history of the gatherings hosted by the Cheras Pastors Fellowship.

These 540 believers were divided into two separate locations. Lucille was upstairs teaching in Mandarin Chinese, while William was downstairs teaching the English-speaking group. The Lord was gracious to enable us to teach His word to His servants. Lucille shook off the jetlag that had been shadowing her since our arrival in Malaysia. Near the end of the evening session, we each did a demonstration of healing. The Lord graciously healed those who came forward. In William’s meeting the first person who came forward—a sister who had a painful lump on the back of her head as a result of a bump there some time ago—was healed by the Lord before we could lay hands on her. She testified that the lump and the pain were gone. William then had her lay hands on another sister who had pain in both knees which she could feel even as she walked to the front. Afterwards the sister walked back and forth at the front with no more pain.

At the same time upstairs the Lord healed many in Lucille’s session with the Chinese-speaking believers. She had never seen so many people healed and testify during a demonstration. There was not enough time remaining to hear all the testimonies of those whom the Lord had healed. There was much excitement among the saints.

The Lord got us off to a good start last night. Thank you for your intercessory prayers. Tonight beginning at 8 PM we will hold the second session of the Training. The final session will be on Saturday morning between 9 AM and 1 PM. The climax will be the Evangelistic Healing Rallies on Saturday and Sunday at 7 PM.

Brethren, please continue to pray according to our update yesterday:

Our desire now is to go beyond simply teaching people how to heal the sick as Jesus taught and commanded his disciples. From what we have seen, the Lord has already made us effective in doing that. Now we want to be effective in training the Church to apply the teaching on the actual battlefield for the winning of souls and the Great Commission. This involves overcoming fear and doubt and taking the gospel outside of the walls of the church to the community where the lost are. This involves discerning strategies that actually work on the field, as has been done in India by Pastor Joshua Gowda and Pastor Simon Haqq with their Evangelistic Feeding Events in unreached villages.

Essentially, we want to move from theory to effective application for the fulfillment of Christ’s Great Commission.

Please pray that the Lord will grant us the wisdom, grace, and anointing to take the Training to this new level of effectiveness here in Cheras and beyond. Thank you for your fervent and effectual prayers, dear partners. Please also remember our loved ones at home in Houston.

In terms of population, Cheras is 80% to 85% ethnic Chinese, most of whom are “folk” Buddhists and ancestor-worshippers. These are less difficult to win for Christ in comparison to winning the adherents of the “religion of peace” which is the majority religion here. There is no law forbidding the Chinese to follow Jesus Christ openly. On top of that, there is considerable unity within the body of Christ in Cheras. In conclusion, therefore, the harvest here for the kingdom of God can be potentially great. Let’s pray fervently that this potential harvest be realized!
