The Deception: Description of a Lie
Lie -
1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture
3. an inaccurate or false statement
4. the charge or accusation of lying
A lie is a statement used to deceive one or more people for whatever reason, so would you call a lie that everybody knows is a lie ‘a good lie’? Of course not. Everybody knows it’s a lie, so then you can’t call it a good lie. Then the best lie would be one that nobody is able to know is a lie unless it’s exposed by the actual truth. “The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.” (Proverbs 18:17)
So we know the best lie would be one that nobody can tell is a real lie without the exact opposite in truth to reveal it. To oversimplify it, you wouldn’t know that black is the exact opposite of white without seeing both black and white. Now you know that black certainly is not white by any stretch of the imagination and so the opposite is also true. Read the rest of this entry »
