Dear Partners in the Great Commission,

Last night approximately 900 pastors, leaders, and disciples from 67 Assemblies of God area churches gathered for the first session of the Basic Training in the mother AG church. We were given such favor through the recommendation of our brother Pastor Jonathan Ferreira of the Visitation of God who has a long-standing relationship with Pastor Márcio of the mother church. Below you can see the crowd early in the session when people were still coming in to take their seats. The banner proclaiming “CURAI OS ENFERMOS” means “heal the sick” in Portuguese as Jesus commanded the Seventy in Luke 10 when he sent them out. Read the rest of this entry »

Followers of False gods Challenged During Final Event in Crato

Monday, January 31, 2011

Dear Brethren in Christ,

We have completed our meetings here in Crato. With the Lord’s gracious help they were fruitful.

The final Visitation of God event took place at the gymnasium where we had also met for the Basic Training. The participating churches were invited as well as the lost and the infirm to attend this evangelistic event where the infirm would be healed and the gospel preached.

Because of the prevalence of idolatry in Crato, we preached the gospel according to the model of Elijah at Mt. Carmel who challenged the priests of the false god Baal. Most people in Crato claim to be Catholics who are supposed to worship the one true God. But in reality only about 1% of the population worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Many others pray to their local god Father Cicero, and many also trust in a brand of witchcraft called Macumba. Read the rest of this entry »

Dear Brethren in Christ,

Tomorrow we will be leaving for a month of training disciples and churches in Brazil with The Elijah Challenge. We will likely be in four different Brazilian cities. (We will not be anywhere near the area of the terrible flooding.) The Lord has been so gracious to us when we minister in Brazil and more and more doors there are opening for The Elijah Challenge.  Read the rest of this entry »

Dear Brethren in Christ,

We just received an interesting, even a bit unsettling report from Albert Kang, Elijah Challenge Asia Coordinator. He is currently on a mission trip to the Philippines. We hope you’ll take a moment to read it…perhaps we might even learn something from it.
