Lie -
1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture
3. an inaccurate or false statement
4. the charge or accusation of lying

A lie is a statement used to deceive one or more people for whatever reason, so would you call a lie that everybody knows is a lie ‘a good lie’? Of course not. Everybody knows it’s a lie, so then you can’t call it a good lie. Then the best lie would be one that nobody is able to know is a lie unless it’s exposed by the actual truth. “The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.” (Proverbs 18:17)

So we know the best lie would be one that nobody can tell is a real lie without the exact opposite in truth to reveal it. To oversimplify it, you wouldn’t know that black is the exact opposite of white without seeing both black and white. Now you know that black certainly is not white by any stretch of the imagination and so the opposite is also true. Read the rest of this entry »

A couple of days ago while working out in the gym, some thoughts occurred to me. Later at home I began to put them down on paper. I’d like to share the resulting article with you. I hope you’ll take a moment to go through it.

In the early days of the Church, life for disciples of Jesus Christ was unimaginably different from what it is today for most Christians, especially those who live in the west. Outwardly, there was the constant dread of persecution, suffering, and loss hanging over their heads because they had decided to make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. Inwardly, however, there was a glorious joy which could not be expressed in human words, for they were receiving the goal of their faith—the salvation of their souls. Malachi 4:5 ^?“See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.

Speaking to God’s people the Israelites, the Old Testament prophet Malachi spoke of the day of their Messiah’s Coming as great and dreadful. While what these words actually encompass might not be entirely clear to us, the term dreadful does not inspire comfort and confidence for God’s people today on the eve of the Messiah’s Second Coming. Certainly Malachi’s description of the Day of the Lord applies to both his First Coming and even more especially, his Second Coming. Read the rest of this entry »
