Dear Brethren in Christ,
Today I met with our Indonesia Elijah Challenge Coordinator, Pastor Davy Hermanus and his co-worker Pastor Elyas. Let me tell you the story behind this. I was here in Bandung in 2003 to teach the Elijah Challenge to a group of servants of God who had a burden to reach the Sunda tribe of West Java—the world’s largest unreached people group consisting of over forty million gospel resistant Musl__ms. Pastor Davy was my host. Among those who attended the Training was a servant of God name Elyas. Click here to read the report.
Davy & Elyas ran with the teaching. They began to evangelize the Sundanese people by a combination of preaching Jesus Christ (not Christianity) and healing the sick as was done in the gospels and Acts. The Lord was gracious to make them extremely fruitful. Extraordinary miracles have taken place among the Sundanese people. Today there are 65 villages which have been reached, meaning there is a body of born-again followers of Jesus Christ in each of those villages which is actively preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and healing the sick. There is apparently no other ministry to the Sundanese people which has even remotely seen such fruit. When Davy & Elyas gather with other missionaries for fellowship, the others mostly share about their frustrations and hardships in trying to reach the Sundanese people. The Lord has given Davy & Elyas a powerful key to release Sundanese people from the grip of Satan.
We are so thankful to have been a catalyst for such a growing movement among the Sundanese people. The movement is not to Christianity, but to Jesus Christ who is the truth, life, and the only way to God. This movement is not recognized as a “religious” one by the Sundanese people, for religion cannot save people from sin. But it is movement to the Truth, who is Jesus Christ.
Please pray for Davy and Elyas as the Lord leads you. There is so much work to be done, but the Lord has shown them how to do it effectively.
I have completed the Basic Training here. The Lord gave me strength and confirmed His word by miraculous healings. He was gracious to enable me to teach fluently in the Indonesian language, especially today. I spent the session last night getting warmed up. The disciples have accepted the challenge I set before them to reach the Sundanese people who live right in their midst. They are ready for war.
Tomorrow on Sunday I preach in three services of my host church. The theme will be healing. Please pray that the Lord will use his newly-trained disciples to heal many sick people tomorrow in the services to demonstrate the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
