We’d like to share with you an exciting YouTube video from missionary Carl Henderson in the Philippines. Carl attended both the Basic and Advanced Elijah Challenge Training, and now serves as Senior Pastor of Baguio International Church in the Philippines. In just months they have planted 38 seed churches with radically-discipled believers, many of them new in the faith.

Dear Partners in the Great Commission,

We just received some good news from The Elijah Challenge in India. Our co-workers Pastors Joshua Gowda and Simon Haqq have held two Evangelistic Feeding Events. The first one was the smaller one and held in village. The local pastor saw his Sunday attendance jump from about 30 before the Feeding Event to nearly 200 after the Event. He is quite happy. Dear Brethren in Christ,

Earlier this morning, William ministered at the morning service of Grace Chapel, a Chinese church in Houston, and taught The Elijah Challenge. At the demonstration of healing toward the end of the service, some people received a healing touch from the Lord as believers laid hands on them. Senior Pastor Larry Leung, who is suffering from colon cancer which his doctors say is beginning to spread to his lungs and liver, was encouraged by what the Lord did. Dear Intercessors,

Praise the Lord—our electricity has been restored. Thank you for praying for us. The Lord is gracious and merciful.

Our local authorities had informed us that it could takes weeks for the power to be restored to the city. We were without power for only about 20 hours. We are grateful and relieved. We have also learned how dependent on electricity we have become in this modern age.

There are still many people in the greater Houston area without power and who face the prospect of having to repair damage to their homes or even worse. May the Lord grant them much grace and strength in the days ahead.

Let us pray fervently for the Lord’s mercy on Texas and Houston with the approach of Hurricane Ike. This storm is now devastating Cuba on its way into the Gulf of Mexico heading in the general direction of Texas. If you look at the attached map, you can see the white cone representing the projected path of the hurricane in the Gulf.
